Steven Pham
Emerging 3D animator & Character Designer
About
Greetings and welcome to my domain! My name is Steven Pham, and I am fine arts and business student majoring in animation and accounting at QUT. In the last couple years, I have found a passion for the craft of drawing and visual arts in general. This had led me to discover and aspire to become a 3D animator and a character designer in the film and TV industry. Currently, I am proficient at digital painting on Photoshop, traditional drawing, character design and composition. Combining the experience in drawing/painting skills with the newly learnt skills in 3D animation, I believe I can break into the industry in the future!
As I was growing up, I’ve always had an interest in films and television, specifically Japanese animation, and the Marvel superhero films, which are a huge inspiration to my practice. One of my favourite films that has influenced in many of my works including in my art commissions and how I animate is due to the first Ironman film and the behind the process of the film which showed me how technical 3D animation and art in general can be. Then as more Iron Man and Marvel movies releases, I saw the huge potential of CGI evolving to more realistic and utilized far wider in the film and tv industry. Even though I want to become a full-time CGI animator in the Film and TV industry as an end goal, I would like to be able to an innovate CGI animation to the next level, so I am able to see it in my favourite movies and tv shows. One day I will be in cinemas and will be awe of my own CGI as like I did when I saw the attention of detail and finesse of the scene when Robert Downey Jr’s suits up for the very first time.
Even though I was incredibly inspired by Marvel Film’s to do animation and art in general I always thought you had to have natural artistic talent to succeed so I never bothered to touch it. However, I was incredibly wrong as with the power of internet and the many learning resources on there I have discovered anyone can become an artist. From there I started to learn how to draw by learning the fundamentals of art so I can discover what I truly wanted to become which is now a 3D animator.
